More Than Just a Centre – It’s a Community

At Auswide Care, we believe that life is better when shared. Social isolation is a major challenge for many people with disabilities, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Our Group & Centre Activities are designed to bring people together to learn, laugh, and grow.

Often referred to as NDIS day programs, our sessions offer a structured yet fun environment where you can meet new people and try new things. Whether you are creative, active, or just want to relax with friends, we have a program for you.

If you are looking for inclusive Disability Day Programs Gold Coast and Brisbane, our centre is a hub of excitement and support. We focus on building social skills and confidence, ensuring every participant feels valued and included.

Our Group and Centre Based Activities

Our adult day programs Gold Coast and Brisbane are diverse and tailored to the interests of our participants. We mix centre-based workshops with community outings.

Centre-Based Activities

  • Arts & Crafts: Painting, pottery, and creative workshops to express yourself.

  • Cooking Classes: Learning to prepare healthy meals in a group setting (and eating them together!).

  • Music & Dance: Fun movement sessions and music therapy to boost mood and fitness.

  • Life Skills Workshops: Group sessions on budgeting, technology, and healthy living.

  • Gaming & Movies: Socialising over board games, video games, or a movie afternoon.

Community Outings

  • Social Excursions: Group trips to the beach, bowling, cinemas, or local Gold Coast and Brisbane parks.

  • Fitness Groups: Walking clubs, swimming, or gym sessions adapted for all abilities.

  • Community Events: Attending local markets, festivals, and library events as a group.

Funding for Group Activities

This service is typically funded under the Core Supports budget in your NDIS plan.

Line Item: Group and Centre Based Activities

The NDIS funds the cost of the support worker to facilitate the group. The price varies depending on the “Ratio” (how many participants per worker).

  • 1:1 Support: If you need individual attention within a group.

  • 1:2 or 1:3: Standard group ratios which make your funding go further.

Activity Costs

While the NDIS covers the support, you may need to pay a small out-of-pocket cost for things like movie tickets, bowling fees, or ingredients for cooking class. This is standard across all NDIS day programs.

Capital Centre Costs

In some cases, a “Centre Capital Cost” may be claimed from your plan to contribute to the cost of running the facility (electricity, rent, etc.). We are transparent about all charges.

FAQs about Day Programs

These are social and skill-building activities facilitated by support workers, either in a dedicated centre or out in the community. They are designed to help you interact with others.

For cooking classes, we prepare and eat food together. For other day programs, participants usually bring their own lunch, or we organise a group lunch at a local café (at your own cost).

Yes. If you have high support needs, your 1:1 support worker can accompany you to our social activities for adults with disabilities.

Choice and control are important. If an activity isn’t for you, we can look at other options or groups that better match your interests.

Transport to and from the centre can be arranged using your NDIS Transport Gold Coast and Brisbane funding. We can pick you up from your home in the Gold Coast area.
